Recent news
most recent scored articles · the chip is the article’s score · click to openAmgen announced that its cholesterol drug Repatha reduced the risk of death from any cause in high-risk adults who had not yet had a heart attack or stroke, making it the first drug in the PCSK9 inhibitor class to show this benefit in a Phase 3 trial for primary prevention. Separate real-world data showed many high-risk patients remain undertreated for high LDL cholesterol (the 'bad' cholesterol).
Pacific Heights Asset Management LLC bought 90,000 Amgen shares in the second quarter, worth about $32.6 million, according to its SEC filing. Amgen now makes up roughly 1.0% of the fund's holdings.
Analysts say AstraZeneca and Amgen's Tezspire could challenge Dupixent in eosinophilic esophagitis, a condition where the esophagus becomes inflamed due to high levels of certain white blood cells, though no Phase 3 data has been released yet.
Tezspire, a drug co-developed by AstraZeneca and Amgen, met its goals in a Phase 3 trial for eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), a chronic swallowing disorder. If approved, it would compete with Sanofi's Dupixent, which is currently the only approved biologic treatment for EoE.
Amgen and AstraZeneca's drug Tezspire succeeded in a late-stage (phase 3) clinical trial for eosinophilic esophagitis, a condition where a type of white blood cell builds up in the esophagus and causes inflammation. The result positions the drug to compete with Sanofi and Regeneron's Dupixent, which currently leads treatment in this disease.
