TotalEnergies said its Papua LNG project in Papua New Guinea has hit major contractual and commercial milestones, moving it closer to a Final Investment Decision. The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) tendering process, which covers the contracts to build the facility, is complete and contract award recommendations are ready for partner approval.
TotalEnergies has taken over as operator of Namibia's PEL83 Licence in the Orange Basin, which contains the large Mopane oil discovery. The company has also joined a cross-industry alliance focused on hydrogen-powered heavy transport and the infrastructure needed to support it.
TotalEnergies has completed a deal with Galp to take over as operator of the Mopane oil and gas discovery off the coast of Namibia, and will pay for half of Galp's share of the cost of the first phase of development, which includes drilling at least three wells over the next two years.
TotalEnergies has completed its acquisition of a 40% operated interest in Petroleum Exploration Licence 83 (PEL 83) in Namibia's Orange Basin, home to the Mopane discoveries. The licence is now split between TotalEnergies (40%, operator), Galp (40%), NAMCOR (10%), and Custos Energy (10%).
