Venture Global signed a 20-year agreement to sell LNG (liquefied natural gas) to ConocoPhillips, locking in a long-term buyer for gas from its export portfolio. The announcement did not include pricing or volume figures.
RBC Capital Markets has lowered its estimate of Venture Global's Q3 adjusted earnings (EBITDA), citing unfavorable basis differentials, meaning the gap between cheap US natural gas prices and the prices VG can get selling LNG abroad has been smaller than expected.
An arbitration tribunal ruled that Venture Global's Calcasieu Pass LNG unit breached a long-term supply agreement with Portugal's Galp by failing to declare commercial operations at the project on time.
Venture Global is in talks to sell LNG to additional Chinese buyers, according to Bloomberg, as the Iran war disrupts global energy shipments and pushes China to diversify its suppliers.
